What is your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?
I played a lot of sports growing up but my main one was ice hockey. In college, I tried every random sport offered: rugby, ultimate frisbee, fencing, ballroom dancing, men’s ice hockey, kickball, intramural basketball, cricket, polo (horse) when I studied abroad in Scotland, and more.
When did you attend your first workout with Arlington Sports Conditioning, and how did you first learn about the group?
My first session was in the fall of 2025. I found the group through googling. I had previously done an outdoor workout similar to ASC in Chicago and loved it. So, I was looking for something like that again.
What is your proudest athletic accomplishment, and why?
My senior year of high school, I was the best ice hockey player in the state of Illinois at my position. But that was years ago. My latest greatness accomplishment is starting to play ice hockey and workout again after years off.
What is your favorite exercise(s)?
Anything besides jumping rope
What is your favorite workout song or musical artist?
Anything hip-hop from the 90s/2000s. Right now my go to workout song is “Jump Around” by House of Pain.
What is your favorite sports team?
Any Chicago team, plus the Green Bay Packers. (I was born in Wisconsin. Plus, the Bears have been horrible for so long).
Who is your favorite athlete?
I have a lot of favorites. But since it is the world cup right now, I’ll pick a soccer player; Kylian Mbappe.
Other than working out, how else do you like to spend your free time?
I love traveling and exploring new places, especially coffee shops. I’m also into photography, visiting National Parks, and learning about history.
What do you like best about Arlington Sports Conditioning?
I love the community of ASC. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. It is a great group of people.
What are the biggest benefits of being a member?
The community of people is the biggest benefit. I also love the simplicity of the schedule; there are only two choices (ASC Fast and ASC Strong).
What advice would you offer to new or prospective members of Arlington Sports Conditioning?
Something two members said to me during my first workout that has always stuck with me is that you just need to keep showing up. It’s great advice that I would pass along to new members. The hardest part is getting to the workouts before or after work. If you can do that, you have already accomplished a huge step.
