Faster. Stronger. Fitter.

ASC Athlete Profile: Melissa Front

Name: Melissa Front

Nickname: Mel

Birthday: July 25th

Hometown: Boston

What is your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?

“I played lacrosse from middle school through college and field hockey during middle and high school. While I dabbled in a few other sports early on, I quickly realized that I preferred team sports.”

When did you attend your first workout with Arlington Sports Conditioning, and how did you first learn about the group?

I went to my first workout in September 2023. I had seen the group several times when I was running at the W&L track and was intrigued by the workouts. I didn’t know that there was a strength workout, as well, so that was a nice surprise.”

What is your proudest athletic accomplishment, and why?

“Besides surviving Pete’s workouts, I guess it was doing the Manitou Incline in Colorado less than 12 hours after I arrived. I hadn’t acclimated to the altitude yet so it was really hard.”

What is your favorite exercise(s)?

I like lunges and shoulder presses. And cool down stretches!”

What is your favorite workout song or musical artist?

“It’s too hard to pick just one because I love so many different types of music. Some of my favorites include classic rock, latin, Top 40, 80s, and funk/soul. As long as it has a good beat or makes me want to dance, I’m all set!”

What is your favorite sports team?

“Having grown up in a huge sports town, it’s definitely the Boston Celtics and the Red Sox.”

Who is your favorite athlete?

“A few of my favorites include Big Papi (David Ortiz), Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and a guy from Indiana named Larry Bird, who I was lucky enough to see play numerous times.”

Other than working out, how else do you like to spend your free time?

“I enjoy watching sports and going to movies/musicals/plays & concerts. I love spending time with my daughters when they’re home, sharing a good meal &/or cocktail with family & friends, traveling, and going for long walks/hikes with my dog.”

What do you like best about Arlington Sports Conditioning?

“I really like the variety & challenge of the workouts, the support & encouragement from other members, the camaraderie in general, and the laughs we share along the way. I also like the fact that I’m doing exercises that I wouldn’t normally do on my own.”

What are the biggest benefits that you have experienced as a member?

“I definitely feel stronger and faster. And more fit! I have more energy and have improved my mile time. I’ve also met a lot of great people.”

What advice would you offer to new or prospective members of Arlington Sports Conditioning?

“Pete does a great job designing the workouts, encouraging everyone, and fostering a supportive environment. He also plays great music, which helps get you through the workouts! It’s a terrific group of people and you’ll make new friends. We have a lot of fun, so come try it — and keep coming!”
