Arlington Sports Conditioning - Pete Leibman

Faster. Stronger. Fitter.

ASC Athlete Profile: Maude Cugnon

Name: Maude Cugnon

Birthday: December 26

Hometown: Beloeil, Belgium

What is your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?

“I played basketball in middle school and was on the swim team. I also played volleyball in high school. I did a lot of inline skating too and completed weeklong biking, backpacking, and hiking trips. I only started running about 14 years ago. I don’t think you could have paid me to run for fun before that, but once I committed, you couldn’t stop me.”

When did you attend your first workout with Arlington Sports Conditioning, and how did you first learn about the group?

“My first workout with ASC was the last Thursday evening workout in 2022. I heard about the workout from Facebook. I was looking for something to do in my area and the ASC page popped up.”

What is your proudest athletic accomplishment, and why?

“I’d say it’s completing the Spartan Race with ASC. It was overall one of the best athletic experiences of my life. Could not have asked for a better day and group of people to complete it with.”

What is your favorite exercise(s)?

“I enjoy yoga and biking. I also like bleachers and running (don’t tell Pete).”

What is your favorite workout song or musical artist?

“I don’t listen to music when I exercise. When I’m running I’m either running in silence or listening to talk radio. I don’t know that I have a favorite musical artist. I like a healthy mix of music and since half the time I don’t know who sings what, I wouldn’t be able to tell you the songs I like anyways.”

What is your favorite sports team?

“Answering this would require that I watch sports on TV, which I don’t. However, I must go with the Belgian Red Devils or my family will disown me.”

Other than working out, how else do you like to spend your free time?

“Reading, scuba diving, ceramics, painting (haven’t painted in a while, but I do like it) and traveling.”

What do you like best about Arlington Sports Conditioning?

“What’s not to like? Pete is creative and keeps things interesting. The people that attend are supportive, inclusive, and inspiring. I love the fact that it’s outdoors and provides a well-rounded exercise routine. It doesn’t matter what your level of fitness is, it’s all about supporting you where you are and helping you reach your full fitness potential.”

What are the biggest benefits that you have experienced as a member?

“Being able to fill in the parts of my exercise routines that I was missing. For example, I would run, but I would never exercise my legs. Now, I cringe when I see a slam ball at an ASC workout, but it’s a good cringe. Also, I’ve gained a new set of friends which is priceless.”

What advice would you offer to new or prospective members of Arlington Sports Conditioning?

The biggest advice for prospective members is to join and for new members, it’s to enjoy the experience.”
