Arlington Sports Conditioning - Pete Leibman

Faster. Stronger. Fitter.

ASC Athlete Profile: Matt DiNuzzo

Name: Matt DiNuzzo

Birthday: May 17

Hometown: Pittsburgh, PA

What is your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?

“I grew up playing all the sports that I could and even inventing some with my 2 younger brothers in our backyard. I played baseball and basketball throughout high school and one year of football (wasn’t for me).”

When did you attend your first workout with Arlington Sports Conditioning, and how did you first learn about the group?

“I believe my first workout was in 2014 at Gold’s Gym when I moved to the area and then started attending the Saturday workouts. I learned about the workout through Gold’s Gym and it seemed to be the perfect balance of what I was looking for at the time. It has been a great program for me all of these years.”

What is your proudest athletic accomplishment, and why?

“Being a letterwinner for baseball and basketball in high school would have to be my proudest accomplishment. Putting in a lot of time and effort and having that improvement over my 4 years is something that I am very proud of. Also hitting 3 home runs in a summer league baseball game was probably the best game I ever played.”

What is your favorite exercise(s)?

“During the workout, my favorite exercises are the relay sprints and broad jumps, and I always try to suggest one good core move like alphabet abs.”

What is your favorite workout song or musical artist?

“I try to listen to a lot of music and attend concerts, so my favorite artists vary from week to week. I have really been enjoying the band Vulfpeck recently and their related bands and projects.”

What is your favorite sports team?

Liverpool FC and the Washington Spirit

Who is your favorite athlete?

Trinity Rodman (Go Spirit!)

Other than working out, how else do you like to spend your free time?

“I really enjoy being outside, so Disc Golf, Hiking, and Biking have been my recent hobbies that have been an athletic and competitive outlet for me.”

What do you like best about Arlington Sports Conditioning? What are the biggest benefits that you have experienced as a member?

“There really are few things organized and run like Arlington Sports Conditioning and what Pete does. The way he organizes the workouts, keeps variety in the exercises, has a proper warm up and cool down, and builds a sense of community has been what keeps me coming back over all of these years. Having that sense of community is what motivates me when getting up early and working out with others, and getting in that Saturday picture really makes me feel accomplished over the weekend. This group has really made Arlington a home for me, and has kept me wanting to stay in the area all these years.”

What advice would you offer to new or prospective members of Arlington Sports Conditioning?

“Always warm up and do as much as you can for that day with good form. Sometimes I feel like I am done before the warm up is even over, but I pace myself and keep the proper form and I feel accomplished by the end of the workout. The group is a nice way to create a pull to join the workout and stay competitive, but no one in this group is here to judge or criticize someone doing their best.”
