Name: Katie Olson
Birthday: May 4
Hometown: Franklin VA
What is your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up? I grew up riding horses and playing soccer, basketball and volleyball. I abandoned the soccer team my senior year of high school to join the girls lacrosse team, which was brand new and really fun. My last year at UVA, I decided to give Women’s Rugby a try – I got to play on both the JV and Varsity teams and those varsity girls hit hard!
When did you attend your first workout with Arlington Sports Conditioning, and how did you first learn about the group? I tried ASC during a promo workout with Lululemon. My friend Suzanne made me do it … and now here we are, enjoying it most Saturdays.
What is your proudest athletic accomplishment, and why? I was very happy when I reached the peak of Machu Picchu after a 4 day trek up the Andes. In the traditional sense, I’ve run two marathons and survived a Spartan 5K… I also kinda feel like the ASC Hyrox Simulation was a pretty big deal, lol …
What is your favorite exercise(s)? I love any group fitness activity (i.e., spin, orangetheory, yoga, body pump) and any excuse to be outside (hiking, walking, running, cycling). I am competitive by nature (youngest to two older brothers) and find I push myself harder when working side by side with others.
What is your favorite workout song or musical artist? As a true geriatric millennial, I love all the early 2000’s hits. Give me 50 cent, Pitbull, Sean Paul, and Daddy Yankee any day. I am also a Swiftie, so I’ll never pass that up.
What is your favorite sports team? I am not a die hard for any professional team, but I always cheer on my UVA Cavaliers… and the CAPS!
Who is your favorite athlete? I have always loved Lindsay Vonn – Alpine skiers are fearless.
Other than working out, how else do you like to spend your free time? Traveling, reading, cooking/eating, anything where I can play in the sunshine; I run on SOLAR.
What do you like best about Arlington Sports Conditioning? I love how hard the workouts are and that they always change a bit. Everyone is motivating and I always walk away proud of myself for “just doing that.”
What are the biggest benefits of being a member? I love the consistency of a hard workout and the special workouts.
What advice would you offer to new or prospective members of Arlington Sports Conditioning? Try it out for two months and see how you feel – now ASC FAST is my favorite way to start a Saturday!
