Faster. Stronger. Fitter.

ASC Athlete Profile: Joel Denicoff

Name: Joel Denicoff

Nickname: J-Deezy

Birthday: December 29

Hometown: Potomac, Maryland

What is your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?

“Yep, all kinds! I was on the high school baseball team and swam over the summers growing up. I’ve always loved playing pickup basketball and intramural sports too. Recently, I’ve been trying to get into pickleball!”

When did you attend your first workout with Arlington Sports Conditioning, and how did you first learn about the group?

“I attended my first ASC workout a few summers ago because Aaron Shapiro aka “Shap” challenged me to try it out. I have been a proud ASC member since early 2024.”

What is your proudest athletic accomplishment, and why?

“I’ve completed 4 Olympic distance triathlons. Each of the first 3 triathlons, I finished around 3 hours and 20 minutes. However, I knew I could do better, and I was determined to break the 3-hour mark. So, I trained extra hard, ate healthier, and finished the 4th triathlon in 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 52 seconds!

Also, my rec basketball team won the championship in my senior year of high school. Shoutout the Birds Clinch Ball Squad and Shap who banked in two huge 3-pointers in the championship game! I still keep the trophy in my room.”

What is your favorite exercise(s)?

“Push-ups and sprints”

What is your favorite workout song or musical artist?

“Anything Lil Wayne and Timber by Pitbull/Ke$ha gets me fired up”

What is your favorite sports team?

“The Washington Wizards! One day our day will come… one day. I’m also a big Commanders and Hoosiers fan. Go Manders!”

Who is your favorite athlete?

“All-time favorite is John Wall”

Other than working out, how else do you like to spend your free time?

“I enjoy spending time with friends and family. In the summers you can find me chilling by a pool. I also like attending any kind of basketball game.”

What do you like best about Arlington Sports Conditioning?

“It’s hard to pick what’s best! Awesome community, great and tough workouts that are challenging, it’s team oriented, and I like how there are so many different moves each workout. Pete has the deepest bag of exercises!”

What are the biggest benefits of being a member?

“Improved strength, conditioning, and all-around health. It’s never a bad day when you start with an ASC workout bright and early.”

What advice would you offer to new or prospective members of Arlington Sports Conditioning?

“Try it out, you’ll love it! I was hesitant to join at first because of the distance, as I live in DC, but ASC is well worth the trip every time! Regardless of your level of fitness, these workouts are built for everyone, and you’ll make some friends along the way.”
