Arlington Sports Conditioning - Pete Leibman

Faster. Stronger. Fitter.

ASC Athlete Profile: Dana Gerk

Nicknames: D, Daenee, Danger, Auntie Dana, Gerkin

Birthday: December 6

Hometown: Lisle, IL

What is your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?

“I played a lot of sports growing up but especially loved soccer, softball and basketball. In high school, I became a cheerleader so I could still play a sport yet also go to my brother’s basketball games since he was two years older and on the varsity team. In college, I went back to soccer, softball, basketball and flag football. Yes, I was all over the map. Yay, sports!”

When did you attend your first workout with Arlington Sports Conditioning, and how did you first learn about the group?

“I believe I joined in 2017 and heard about ASC through a mutual friend.”

What is your proudest athletic accomplishment, and why?

“I’d probably say my most memorable one was hitting a game-winning walk-off double in a Capital Alumni Network softball game. My teammates picked me up on their shoulders and carried me around the field. It was a sports moment every kid dreams about. And yes, I was a grown adult.”

What is your favorite exercise(s)?

“Skipping. I dare you to try skipping without having a smile on your face! Deadlifts are enjoyable, as well.”

What is your favorite workout song or musical artist?

“Thunderstruck. Get ready for some burpees!”

What is your favorite sports team?

“It depends when I am asked this question. College hoops season = Marquette Baseball, Pro baseball season = Chicago Cubs, Pro football season = Chicago Bears, World Cup = Croatia.”

Who is your favorite athlete?

“Well, besides Pete…. My current favorite athlete would have to be the Marquette basketball team.  Yes, the whole team!  Who says I can’t do that? They are so special this year because almost every player has stepped-up in various games when the team needed it the most. We’ve been down by double-digits at the half on numerous occasions and have managed to turn things around with grit, heart and a bit of a chip on our shoulder after getting picked 9th in the Big East for the pre-season poll.”

Other than working out, how else do you like to spend your free time?

“Cooking, gardening, hanging with my family and friends, walks/hikes, coffee, tennis, watching sports and being an aunt to two of the coolest little ladies in Arlington!”

What do you like best about Arlington Sports Conditioning? What are the biggest benefits you have experienced?

“The amazing people! The workout is always amazing, but on days when you don’t really feel like working out, it is the smiling faces and wonderful friendships that keep you coming back for more. 😊  You all are truly my workout family.”

What advice would you offer to new or prospective members of Arlington Sports Conditioning?

“Don’t drop your head when doing push-ups. Pete has only told me 158 times not to do this….”
