ASC Athlete Profile: Andres Rodriguez

Name: Andres Rodriguez

Birthday: August 3

Hometown: Richmond, VA

What is your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?

“I grew up swimming, playing tennis, and soccer. In high school, our coach had us run 3 miles at the end of every practice during the preseason and I discovered that I did these long runs much more than practice, (we didn’t have a cross country team). From there, I eventually got into longer distance run (half and full marathons). I also dabbled in triathlons years ago.”

When did you attend your first workout with Arlington Sports Conditioning, and how did you first learn about the group?

“Back in 2015, I started going to the Monday night classes at Golds Gym, and then started showing up at the track on Saturday mornings.”

What is your proudest athletic accomplishment, and why?

“Finishing the 2006 Great Floridian Race (full ironman distance triathlon). It was the longest, toughest day of my life, coming in just under 17 hours on a day with record setting temperatures.”

What is your favorite exercise(s)?

“Bleachers, so long as I’m not leading them. “

What is your favorite workout song or musical artist?

“Any angry rap music with colorful language.”

What is your favorite sports team?

“I don’t follow any pro teams but on the college level I root for my alma maters- the Fighting Irish and the Tarheels.”

Who is your favorite athlete?

“ASC member Carlos Rivera – I follow him on Strava and the man is a machine!”

Other than working out, how else do you like to spend your free time?
