What is your athletic background? Did you play any sports growing up?
I didn’t grow up playing any sports outside of some tennis lessons and a couple years of synchronized swimming in middle school, but I would consider myself an adult wanna-be athlete. Now, I do a lot of hiking and biking and also take barre classes.
When did you attend your first workout with Arlington Sports Conditioning, and how did you first learn about the group?
My first ASC workout was in Spring 2025 and I learned about the group through a sign in a local Arlington park! There’s something to be said for a good, old-fashioned sign.
What is your proudest athletic accomplishment, and why?
It’s actually with ASC – my team came in first place for the team obstacle course race during the ASC Olympics this past summer. It was mostly Bryan and Daniela’s doing. I was proud I could keep up with them and proud to have won my first athletic-related anything!
What is your favorite exercise(s)? I surprise myself with this one, but I really like battle ropes. Also anything with an obstacle course element.
What is your favorite workout song or musical artist? This changes frequently, but right now it is “Matter of Time” by Vulfpeck
What is your favorite sports team? Boston Red Sox
Who is your favorite athlete? Simone Biles
Other than working out, how else do you like to spend your free time?
I like hiking and biking (there’s a reason I like the outdoors element of ASC so much!), reading, and visiting National Park sites. I am also a classical pianist.
What do you like best about Arlington Sports Conditioning?
I love the outdoors element the most – it feels so refreshing to be moving outside after a day at work sitting in front of the computer. I also love the variety of the workouts. There is a seemingly endless repertoire of exercises and activities, and it keeps the workouts super fun.
What are the biggest benefits of being a member?
The ASC community has been a great benefit of being a member. From my first workout, everyone I have met has been welcoming and supportive; this community aspect makes me look forward to the workouts even more. Pete also organizes events throughout the year for members, such as a group hike, Friendsgiving, etc., which is a bonus to get to know members outside of the workout setting. Last, it was also a big draw for me to know that ASC gives back to the local community by sharing revenue with the Arlington Parks & Rec Dept.
What advice would you offer to new or prospective members of Arlington Sports Conditioning?
I would say that showing up is 95% of the battle – once you are there it is so fun and easy to be engaged at whatever level you are at. Finishing an ASC workout has never failed to make me feel energized, healthy, and productive. Put simply – my advice is to show up! You’ll be glad you did.
