NOVA has teamed up with Arlington Sports Conditioning (ASC)!
Over the last ten-plus years, ASC has helped thousands of local residents get faster, stronger, and fitter.
NOVA members and friends can attend an ASC Strong workout on Monday, June 16th for free. You may also bring one guest for free ($80 value).
Strength training is an essential, yet often neglected, ingredient of a well-rounded fitness program. Doing strength training at least 1-2 times each week reduces your chances of injuries and makes you an even better runner.
ASC Strong is a group personal training session that improves full-body strength and athleticism. These workouts are offered outdoors and include dumbbells, kettlebells, and other functional equipment. Improve your strength, reduce your likelihood of injuries, and maximize your athletic potential.
Terms and conditions
Each attendee must agree to an online waiver and register individually with their own contact information.
You cannot register for another person because each person needs to agree to an online waiver.
This special offer is only valid for first-time local residents who have never attended an ASC workout.

ASC proudly welcomes people of all ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds. However, ASC typically appeals to people with certain preferences.
ASC is probably not for you if:
- You prefer working out indoors.
- You prefer working out by yourself.
- You prefer treadmills, rowing machines, and stationary bikes over functional, athletic movements.
- You prefer coaches who have a rah-rah cheerleader personality.
ASC is right for you if:
You like spending time outside. While we offer some indoor workouts in the winter, most of our workouts are outdoors. We train at the best outdoor training locations in Arlington.
You like feeling like you are part of a team. All ASC workouts include partner and group drills. ASC also organizes special events throughout the year to help members connect with each other outside of workouts.
You want to train like an athlete. Unlike most group exercise programs, we never use treadmills, rowing machines, or stationary bikes. Machines might burn calories, but they don’t improve your core strength or athleticism. We focus on dynamic, athletic movements and functional equipment, such as dumbbells, kettlebells, and battleropes.
You want to be coached by an athletic, credible expert. You won’t find any junior coaches or rah-rah cheerleaders leading ASC workouts.
You enjoy supporting small, local businesses and your local community. ASC is one of the only fitness businesses to be started and led by an Arlington resident. In addition, ASC shares its revenue with Arlington County Parks and Rec. By joining ASC, you also support Arlington’s parks, trails, and nature areas, and you keep Arlington clean, green, and healthy.

How ASC Got Started
ASC started in 2012. At the time, ASC Founder Pete Leibman was teaching a weekly Sports Conditioning class for Gold’s Gym in Ballston. The class had become extremely popular, often getting over 100 people per class (photo below).
One summer day, Pete asked the group if they would be interested in doing a workout outdoors. Everyone was interested. Three days later, Pete hosted ASC’s first outdoor workout.
Since then, Pete has led hundreds of outdoor workouts for thousands of people in Arlington.
While most of our members have been with us for years, we are just getting started…
